Kukuruku dump Giwa out of Fed Cup

Nigeria Nation-Wide League side, Kukuruku Dragons of Edo state created the major upset in the 2015 Federation Cup round of 64 after eliminating Giwa FC 5-4 on penalties.

The Jos-based side, who are second on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table, were dumped out of the competition by the greenhorns after the game ended 2-2 in regulation time at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna.

Giwa, though, have company in the “stars” as Sunshine and Shooting also fell to clubs from the lower division.

Sunshine Stars lost 3-1 to Delta state champions FC Atete at the Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City while Shooting Stars were defeated 1-0 by Plateau United.

However, Heartland narrowly escaped being part of the casualty list with a 2-1 win over another NNWL side Bizi Cashless FC.

Another top side, Dolphins of Port Harcourt, edged FC Inter 2-1 to progress to the next round.

Kwara United defeated Akwa Starlets 2-1 to also book a place in the round of 32 which will be played on July 8 and 9, 2015.
