Ibrahim Shekarau, former governor of Kano state, concluded his defection process from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday.

The two-term governor of Kano hosted Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the ruling party, and Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano, at his residence.

Hours after he defected to the APC, a video went viral showing a crowd at Shekarau’s residence purportedly chanting the name of Rabiu Kwankwaso, also a former governor of the state.

Kwankwaso defected from the APC to PDP two months ago. The move of the leadership of the opposition party to hand over the structure of PDP to him reportedly led to the exit of Shekarau.

Kwankwaso is presidential aspirant of the PDP.

After Shekarau defected, the video of him receiving Ganduje and Oshiomhole at his residence showed his supporters chanting “APC APC APC”.

But a doctored version where people were hailing Kwankwaso soon surfaced online. This made PDP members like Lere Olayinka, spokesman to the governor of Ekiti state, to mock APC.

However, people later discovered that the video was altered.

Meanwhile, Deji Adeyanju, a former PDP member and OurMumuDonDo Movement member has apologised for posting the video.

Original video was posted by the special adviser on media to Kano governor, Salihu Yakasai by 1:03PM.
