Makanjuola Ajadi, a senator and governorship aspirant on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, has expressed concern over alleged circulation of fake delegates lists among the party members.
Ajadi, who recently resigned his appointment as special adviser to the president on national assembly matters, said this on Wednesday in a statement signed by Abdulmajeed Olokooba, his media assistant.
The senator said some members of the party are going around with a concocted list of delegates different from the authentic one from the PDP national headquarters.
He called on the leadership of the party in the state to be at alert and resist any attempt by some godfathers to foist unpopular candidates on the party.
Ajadi said that contrary to rumour making waves in the state, he had resigned his appointment and the resignation was approved by President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Our attention has also been drawn to the insinuation making round that the presidency rejected senator Ajadi’s resignation.
“This is far from the truth. The fact still remains that Ajadi has since resigned his appointment in line with the PDP constitution and the resignation was accepted by the president.”
He denied that the presidency directed all its appointees who had resigned recently to return to their respective offices.
“The orchestrated insinuation was the handiwork of the people who do not want to submit themselves to ballot boxes but believe in imposition of candidates by their godmother,” he said.
The statement said the senator had obtained the PDP form to contest the 2015 governorship election in 2015 with a promise to give priority attention to infrastructure development.
Ajadi pledged to revolutionise the agriculture sector and empower the rural farmers to ensure food security in the state.
In a telephone interview with NAN on Wednesday, the aspirant promised to create job opportunities for the unemployed youths if given the mandate to govern the state in 2015.
“Today, there is massive unemployment among the youth, especially university graduates, who are either engaged as political thugs or are given meagre stipend that is not even enough to keep body and soul together.
“The present administration in the state paid paltry sum of N5,000 as monthly salary in its employment programme. What can this meagre salary buy?”
Ajadi promised to focus on the provision of potable water both in the state capital and the rural areas.
“The water will flow again as it was the case in the past. I will sink boreholes across the state as I did when I was a senator,” he said.
Ajadi said in spite of the huge resources expended on the Asa Dam by successive administrations, the taps were still dry as water was not running in many homes.
