Kwara resident shoots 12-year-old brother to death ‘while testing bulletproof charm’

A 12-year-old boy has been shot dead in Kaiama area of Kwara state.

According to NAN, the boy was shot by his older brother who was testing the efficacy of a “bulletproof charm”.

Speaking on the development on Monday, Ajayi Okasanmi, spokesperson of the Kwara police command, said the suspect and the deceased were sons of a hunter.

He said upon their return home after procuring the charm, the older brother took their father’s hunting gun and shot at the deceased to test the efficacy of the charm.

The suspect was, however, said to have fled the scene of the incident after it happened, while the 12-year-old reportedly died on the spot.

“The two of them are sons of one Abubakar Abubakar, a hunter in Dutse Gogo town in Kaiama local government area of Kwara,” Okasanmi said.

“The culprit escaped into the bushes immediately after the act.

“Investigation into the matter has started.

“Parents and guardians are advised to monitor activities of their children and avoid doing certain things in their presence to prevent incidents of this nature.”
