Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos have asked President Bola Tinubu to address what it described as injustice during the recent primary election for Shomolu LGA of the state.

The stakeholders alleged that a member of the house of representatives made an “undue interference” in the party’s chairmanship election process in the LGA.

The Lagos APC held its primary election on May 10 at the party’s secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, setting the stage for the local government elections scheduled for July 12.

The elections will be held across Lagos’ 20 LGAs and 37 Local council development areas (LCDAs).

In a statement on Sunday, the group alleged that Bowale Sosimi, a grassroots politician, who was initially endorsed as the consensus candidate by the local party structure was dropped at the last minute.

The party stakeholders said this is not the first time Sosimi has faced such a political setback, adding that in 2017, his name was similarly withdrawn from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) list.

The party stakeholders said the house of representatives member played a major role in truncating Sosimi’s candidacy, alleging that the lawmaker used religion as a political tool to justify the imposition of a different aspirant.
