The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSRRS) says its operatives have rescued a 56-year-old man who was trapped in a well.
Maria Fadairo, senior public affairs officer of the agency, said in a statement on Tuesday that the incident occurred over the weekend at House 12, Aiyeola Street, off Governor Road, Molad Bus Stop, within the Ikotun-Igando LCDA.
Fadairo said the Ejigbo fire station received a distress call and immediately deployed a rescue team to the scene.
He said the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was reportedly working inside the well, estimated to be 80 feet deep, when he got trapped.

According to the LSRRS spokesperson, the well is located at the back of a bungalow with eight rooms on a 648-square metre property.
“The victim was successfully rescued alive through the coordinated efforts of the firefighters,” the statement reads.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident may have resulted from negligence.”

Margaret Adeseye, director of the fire service, urged Lagos residents to inform the agency whenever hazardous work is being carried out.
Adeseye added that this will allow for proper safety protocols, including standby support, to prevent life-threatening situations.
