The Lagos state government has introduced new regulations limiting the operational hours of building sites to between 7 am and 6 pm from Monday to Saturday.

This directive was announced by Oluyinka Olumide, the commissioner for physical planning and urban development, during a press briefing in Alausa on Thursday.

Olumide said the restriction “must be strictly followed” by all parties involved in construction activities within Lagos.

He warned that relevant government agencies would be tasked with ensuring compliance, adding that exceptions could be made for work outside these hours upon submission of a “formal application”.

The commissioner explained that the decision to limit working hours at construction sites was driven by multiple objectives, including environmental protection, prevention of building collapses, and the promotion of social well-being and wellness among residents.

He encouraged the public to report any instances of non-compliance to the authorities.
