The Lagos state government says there would be an 11-day programme for the second term inauguration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of the state and Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor.

The programme, unveiled by Gbenga Omotosho,  commissioner for information and strategy, is scheduled to hold from May 21, 2023, to June 4, 2023.

In a statement on Friday, Gboyega Akosile, spokesperson to the governor, said the inauguration is to mark the end of their first term and the beginning of their second term in office.

Akosile said while the inauguration would be on May 29, post-inauguration Jummat and church service would hold on June 2 and June 4, 2023, respectively.

He added that the programmes would be held in different parts of the state, particularly the five divisions of Lagos – Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe.

“The programmes include youth carnival and robotic competition for people with disabilities, book launch and photo exhibition, children’s day activities, cultural display and an inauguration dinner,” Akosile quoted Omotosho in the statement.

“The project’s commissioning would take place in eight local government areas between May 24 and May 26.

“The administration in line with its campaign promise ensured that all abandoned/ongoing projects too numerous to mention were completed.”

Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC),  secured a second term in the election held on March 20, 2023, with  762,134 votes.
