Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, general manager of Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA), has restated the agency’s commitment to addressing discriminatory practices against Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
Oyetunde-Lawal said LASODA has already implemented a raft of interventions to address discrimination, with efforts ongoing to ensure equal treatment and inclusion for PWDs in the city.
She gave the assurance during an interview on TVC, which aired on Friday, March 29.
“The agency remains dedicated to advancing the THEMES plus agenda set by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration. This agenda focuses on social inclusion, gender equality, and youth empowerment,” she said.
“As part of this commitment, LASODA plans to take advocacy and awareness initiatives to the grassroots level, engaging with people to understand the diverse needs of PWDs based on their specific disabilities.”
She also urged everyone in the state to always consider the needs of PWDs.
She added that the agency is working on amending the Lagos state special people’s law to adequately address the needs of PWDs and protect their rights.
