Yomi Omomuwasan, managing director of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), says he does not know how much the company makes in one month at the tollgate.

Omomuwasan stated this on Thursday, when he featured on a programme on Nigeria Info 99.3 FM.

Asked by the presenter what LCC, the company in charge of the Lekki tollgate, makes in tolling in a month, the managing director said he doesn’t know the figure.

“How much have you lost from tolling? I guess what I’m asking is how much do you make there per month?” Sandra Ezekwesili, the host, had asked.

“We do not have a figure for that, Sandra,” Omomuwasan responded.

“You do not know how much you make per month?” the presenter asked.

“We do not know,” Omomuwasan said.

The Lekki tollgate has been a subject of controversy, following the October 20, 2020 shooting involving #EndSARS protesters.

Operations at the tollgate were suspended since then, but on February 6, the Lagos state judicial panel granted approval to LCC to resume at the plaza.

The decision of the panel generated criticism on social media, leading to a protest tagged #OccupyLekki, which took place on February 13 at the tollgate.

Reacting to the development, the managing director said the company is not part of the problem and the #EndSARS protests, adding that LCC is a “victim”.

“We have always maintained the fact that we are not part of the problem; we are not part of the #EndSARS issue,” he said.

“We are just a company, operating and working on its own. One day, we observed that we have been forced out of the location.

“As at today, we have about 12 billion in local currencies. We have about 31 million in US dollars; that is a lot of money. This is the money that has been used to build the road.

“We are the victims; we are the ones that have nothing to do with the protest and then we were burnt down. We have lost some money right now. We are trying to get back to operation.

“We have a number of obligations to meet, a number of international debts.”
