The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has assured its members that the Qatar investment forum has not been cancelled.

Following a leaked memo showing the Arab nation declined a proposed investment forum on the sidelines of President Bola Tinubu’s visit, the presidency said the foreign trip to Qatar on March 2 is still on.

Tinubu’s Qatar visit is scheduled between March 2 and 3, 2024.

According to Dele Oye, NACCIMA president, the business and investment forum was organised in collaboration with Qatar’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

“We are in close communication with the relevant authorities and stakeholders, and we intend to provide a comprehensive update and advisory regarding the trip on or before 5pm on 25/2/24,” Oye said.

“Please rest assured that no decision to cancel the event has been made at this point.”

“The Business and Investment Forum, organized in collaboration with Qatar’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry, is designed to provide an unparalleled platform for Nigerian businesses to engage with their Qatari counterparts,” he said.

“This event aims to explore commercial and investment opportunities across key sectors, including oil & gas, manufacturing, agro-business, construction, real estate, ICT, renewable energy, solid minerals, and the service sector.”

Oye said the leaked information may have caused concerns regarding the status of the forum but wishes to reassure all prospective participants and the business community that there is no cause for alarm.
