Oghenekaro Etebo, Super Eagles midfielder, says the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Libya will be the toughest for the team so far.
The Stoke midfielder told TheCable that in spite of Libya’s loss to Nigeria on Saturday, it will be detrimental to take the North Africans for granted.
“I think this game is the most important game for us and it’s really going to be the toughest because they already lost 4-0 to us,” Etebo said.
“I am 100 percent sure that the Libyans will really come out against us today.
“They are not handicapped. They will really want to redeem themselves. I believe it’s going to be a big one on Tuesday.”
The Libyans made the Super Eagles work hard for their victory in the first leg despite the flattering scoreline.
Commenting on this, Etebo said: “The Libyans are very good, forget the fact that we defeated them because they got a very good counter attack. They can play really good.
“You can see that despite losing to us that they played really good. They are very good technically on the ball.
“And they have good players that can keep the ball. So, it is important that we need to block our defense and close those gaps that are important for this second leg for them not to really come in.
“Because one loophole from us, we are going to pick the ball from our net.
“But I believe we will still win because I believe we are really working hard to be in Cameroon next year by God’s grace.”
Odion Ighalo scored a hat-trick when Nigeria defeated Libya at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
