LIFE Theological Seminary, the premier theological institution of the Foursquare Gospel Church, has unveiled a series of activities to commemorate its 70th anniversary.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Cletus Orgu, provost of the seminary, described the anniversary as “a milestone of grace, growth, and global relevance”.
He said the events mark seven decades of theological education and leadership development in Nigeria and beyond.
Orgu added that the institution remains committed to training spiritually grounded and mission-driven leaders for the church and society.

“Our alumni are influencing communities, shaping nations, and engaging culture with the mind of Christ,” Orgu said.
“This anniversary is not merely a celebration of longevity but a testimony to enduring impact.
“The 70th anniversary celebration features several events, including an inaugural lecture, a novelty football match, a thanksgiving service, and the launch of a Festschrift in honour of the outgoing provost.

“Other activities include the conferment of honorary doctoral awards on outstanding Christian leaders and a grand convocation where bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees will be awarded across various disciplines.”
Orgu said the commemoration is not only about reflecting on the past but also about charting the future.
The provost also outlined the seminary’s strategic vision for the coming decade, tagged “a decade of renewal and expansion”.
He said the new focus areas would include curriculum innovation, increased theological research, global partnerships, campus infrastructure development, and sustainable initiatives for long-term growth.

“We are committed not only to preserving our rich legacy but to advancing boldly into a future where LIFE Seminary continues to shape the spiritual landscape of Africa and beyond,” he said.
He added that the seminary would continue to enhance its online learning platforms to reach more students across regions.
Orgu expressed gratitude to the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, the seminary’s governing council, alumni, faculty, global partners, and the media for their consistent support.
“We invite the press and the public to join us in telling this story of God’s faithfulness,” he said.

The provost added that LIFE has produced thousands of pastors, missionaries, educators, and theologians who now serve in various denominations and nations across the continent and beyond.

Founded in 1955 by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, the seminary was established to meet the growing need for trained ministers across Africa.
