The Lagos state government says it has started the construction of the road project that would link the Agric area of Ikorodu to Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Akinwunmi Ambode, the state governor, said this on Tuesday at a stakeholders’ meeting on the road.

He said it would cut through the Arepo area of Ogun state, PUNCH reports.

Represented by Rotimi Ogunleye, the state commissioner for commerce, industries and cooperatives, the governor said the state has also approved the reconstruction of Igbe/Igbogbo/Bola Tinubu network of roads.

He added that the road would be a dual carriageway and would also serve as another link to Sagamu.

“The Agric-Isawo-Konu-Arepo Road will have a link bridge that will connect the state to the Ogun State boundary, which will link the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” Ambode said.

Temidayo Erinle, permanent secretary, the state ministry of works and infrastructure, said there would be 10 lay-byes and bus stops on the road, as well as traffic signals, street lights and drainage systems.

He added that the first phase of the road construction would begin 400 metres from Ikorodu road at Agric bus stop, “with a total length of over seven kilometres”.

The road project is expected to be completed in 18 months.
