Linus Okorie, chief executive officer (CEO) of GOTNI Leadership Centre, says Nigeria can only make progress if its leaders deliberately embrace mindset transformation and leadership development.

Okorie spoke in Abuja on Friday during a press briefing ahead of the 2025 national leadership conference (NLC) scheduled for September 5 and 6 in the nation’s capital.

He said the conference, with the theme “Transforming minds. Inspiring results” would gather key actors from across sectors to rethink leadership and inspire impactful results.

“For Nigerian leaders to be able to make a major impact in the polity, it is imperative for these individuals to take leadership development very seriously, because everything rises and falls on leadership,” Okorie said.

“If Nigeria must make trajectory progress, there must be an effort for leaders to deliberately, intentionally, on their own, always find themselves in rooms where their mindset can be transformed, where they can be prepared, so they can inspire great results within their institutions.”

He said leadership is about service and collaboration.

“Nobody can achieve results alone; you need one another. That’s why you must find yourselves in rooms where you can network with other leaders and share your thoughts,” he added.

The leadership expert said this year’s conference will, for the first time, feature prominent global leaders making waves in Europe and Dubai.

Among the speakers billed to attend are former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Patrick Lumumba, founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation; Gautier Mignot, head of the EU delegation to Nigeria; Corrie Block, global business strategist; Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, minister of women affairs; and Elsie Attafuah, resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Other confirmed speakers include Michael Orokpo, founder of Encounter Jesus Ministries International; John Kennedy Opara, chairman of CSS Group; Mabel Segun-Bello, judge of the federal high court; and several industry executives.

Okorie said NLC 2025 will provide transformational insights, elite networking opportunities, practical strategies, and exclusive access to networks that shape Nigeria’s future.

“This is the only way Nigeria can make progress—where there is a critical mass of people who have understood what leadership is all about, that leadership is for the service of others,” he said.
