Mohamed Salah has been crowned the 2017/18 PFA player of the year after the spectacular season he’s had with Liverpool.

Liverpool bought the Egyptian forward from AS Roma for £34.3million last summer.

He saw off tough competition from Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne to get the gong at Grosvenor House in central London on Sunday.

Salah and De Bruyne have been the standout players of the English Premier League (EPL) this season.

The Belgium international played an integral role as Pep Guardiola’s swashbuckling side won the title.

Salah on the other hand consistently put in exceptional performances and scored crucial goals for Liverpool in a season when he became the first player in EPL history to win the player of the month award thrice during a term.

He was voted as the division’s best player in November, February and March.

He joined Roger Hunt and Ian Rush as the only Liverpool players to have scored 40 times in a single season when he headed home against Bournemouth at Anfield earlier this month.

Salah’s goal against Bournemouth ensured the Egyptian achieved another milestone by becoming the first African player to score 30 times in one EPL campaign.
