Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo met with Senate President Bukola Saraki, Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, and five governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the presidential villa in Abuja on Monday.

The meeting, which details were unknown, held just as President Muhammadu Buhari was heading for the climate change conference in Morocco.

The governors in attendance were: Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Abubakar Bello (Niger), and Jubrilla Bindow (Adamawa).

A source said it could be connected with the senate’s rejection of Buhari’s $29.9bn loan request and the medium term expenditure framework (MTEF).

When asked by state house correspondents to speak on what happened at the meeting Saraki, who had met with Buhari three times in one week, said: “I am sure the VP will issue a statement. But nothing of great alarm. It’s all for good governance, inclusion and collaboration with all arms. The states are here, national assembly executives just came up with ideas on how to make things work even better, that’s all.”

Osinbajo’s office is yet to issue a statement about the meeting.

‎‎The governors reportedly protested against Buhari’s refusal to consult them on his planned board appointments as well as on the appointment of ambassadors.
