Jude Abaga, Nigerian rapper and songwriter known as M.I., has compared himself with rappers abroad.
In a conversation with fans on Twitter, Abaga said he is greater than 95 percent of rappers in the United States.
“There are many great rappers in the states.. I agree with that.. Sirs ..With all humility ..I am as great or greater than 95 percent of them”.
He described indigenous rap as amazing art, stating that it is a balance of culture, language, audience and rap.
“Don’t buy into the hype.. What your Nigerian rappers are doing is amazing.. Balancing culture language audience and rap #IM3TheFinale,” he wrote.
The 34-year-old rapper took to his Twitter page to share his opinion on ‘Illegal Music 2’, his 2012 mixtape.
“Since yesterday people have said everything to me about my comments on IM2.. I respect all opinions that are respectful.. Here’s mine.
“IM2 took at least 10 rappers no one had heard of and put them on the map.. Name a Yankee mixtape that has done same.. #IM3TheFinale.”
The Chocolate City boss also said that the time for Nigeria to show his talent to the world has come and he would be leading with the release of his mixtape, Illegal Music 3.
The Taraba indigene who began his musical career in 2003 was appointed a United Nations Goodwill ambassador in 2012.
To his credit, he has won 15 awards so far.
