Magu replaces Lamorde as chairman of EFCC

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Ibrahim Magu as the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Femi Adesina, presidential spokesman, said on Monday.

According to him, “Magu, who is an assistant commissioner of police is to take over from Ibrahim Lamorde who is proceeding on terminal leave ahead of the formal expiration of his tenure in February next year”.

Until his appointment, Magu was the head of the economic and governance unit of the anti-graft agency.

He was part of the team which investigated James Ibori, former governor of Delta state, who is now serving jail sentence in the United Kingdom after being convicted for fraud.He is a member of the committee that the president set up to investigate the procurement of arms in the armed forces from 2007 till date.
