Malami insists he has no hand in Maina’s recall, says lawmakers are part of pension fraud

Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation (AGF), says the letter on the reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the presidential task force on pension reform, could not have emanated from his office.

Malami said this on Thursday when he appeared before a house of representatives committee probing the reinstatement of Maina.

He said though the reinstatement issue was important, the greater interest should be pension fraud, which he accused some politicians and legislators of being part of.

“As of February 21, Maina’s issue was a work of progress,” Malami said.

“The letter giving clear directives on his reinstatement couldn’t have genuinely emanated from my office.”

Winifred Oyo-Ita, head of service; ‎and Abdulrahman Dambazau, minster of interior; and Joseph Akande, acting chairman of the head of federal civil service commission, are among those at the hearing.
