Bernardo Silva scored two first-half goals as Manchester City demolished Real Madrid 4-0 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) second-leg semi-final clash at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, winning the tie 5-1 on aggregate.

City finally showed their European pedigree, outshining Real Madrid to dump the 14-time UCL champions out of their favourite competition.

Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez also netted in the dominant victory.

Man City dominated from the blast of kick-off, hugging 79% of possession before duly taking the lead on 23 minutes when Silva found the bottom near post from inside the area.

Toni Kroos saw a long-range strike hit the bar for Real Madrid. Silva then put Man City two goals ahead on 37 minutes with a header following a blocked shot, to Pep Guardiola’s delight.

David Alaba saw his free kick tipped away early in the second half as Real put on a defiant display but could not change the scoreline as Man City made it 3-0 via Militao’s own goal.

Alvarez then rounded up scoring minutes after coming on with a well-taken strike to secure Man City’s passage to the UCL final for the second time in three years.
