Tragedy struck at government house, Maiduguri, Borno state, on Tuesday after John Antagav, a 60-year-old man, committed suicide.

A government official, who spoke to TheCable on the incident, said that Antagav’s lifeless body was found hanging on a tree around 2:30 pm on Tuesday.

Antagav is said to be a steward at the presidential lodge of the government house.

According to his colleague, the deceased brought his phone to him and demanded that a number be deleted.

He explained that the gardeners later found Antagav’s body hanging on a tree.

“He came to me and told me to delete a particular number on his phone at about 2:00pm. He did not say a word to me again,” one of his colleagues said.

“I found his phone ringing but I didn’t see him. It was our gardeners that saw his lifeless body hanging on the tree.
