Manchester City were crowned FIFA World champions on Friday night following a 4-0 win over Fluminense in their Club World Cup final match at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Saudi Arabia.

Julio Alvarez’s brace, an own goal and Phil Foden’s strike settled the encounter.

Alvarez chested in Nathan Ake’s long range shot on the rebound in the first minute before Nino erroneously converted Phil Foden’s cutback into his own goal to help the English side extend their lead on the 27 minutes.

Foden slid in to make it three on 72 minutes before Alvarez completed the rout on 88 minutes.

The victory means Manchester City, last season’s UEFA Champions League champions, win the FIFA World Club Cup for the first time at their first attempt.

Man City is also the fourth English club to win the World Club Cup, the first since Chelsea’s triumph in 2021.
