Several people have reportedly been killed following a fuel-laden tanker explosion in the Dan Magaji area of Zaria, Kaduna state.
The incident occurred around 8:30am on Monday, near Rochas Foundation School, along the Kaduna–Kano expressway bypass, from Kwangila to Dan Magaji.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, the accident involved two tankers and two passenger-filled Golf cars.
Eyewitnesses said the collision triggered five loud explosions, followed by a massive fire that sent thick plumes of smoke billowing over the highway.

“All the occupants of the cars died on the spot, except one driver who survived but sustained severe burns,” a witness said.
The publication added that emergency responders, security agencies, and fire service personnel have cordoned off the area, while motorists and pedestrians have been advised to avoid the route as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties had yet to be confirmed.
