In response to calls for personal protective equipment for healthcare workers and other frontline responders battling the Covid-19 pandemic, Mara Phones Nigeria announced that it has donated 10,000 masks to the Government of Nigeria.

Putting into practise the simple idea that every single person can do something good to improve the lives of others and positively change the world; Mara Phones has announced the donation of 10,000 masks to the Government of Nigeria. As the world is faced with the unprecedented impact of Covid-19, Mara Phones, an African company, stands with our continent of Africa to help limit the spread of the virus and ease the economic impact and hardships faced by Governments within the countries we operate in.

At Mara Phones, we recognise that as a proudly African brand, it is our mission to contribute to saving and improvinglives.  We are committed to getting much-needed resources to those who need it the most, the healthcare workers and frontline responders.  Announced at the 2019 Africa Investment Forum (AIF), Mara Phones is in the process of building a brand-new state-of-the-art factory in Nigeria that will manufacture high-quality and affordable smartphones. This $100 million (one hundred million US dollars) project will generate over 2,000 direct and high-skilled jobs and contribute to the transfer of technology and high-tech skills in Nigeria while aiding in the creation and sustenance of a large ecosystem of high-tech companies.

The masks donation is one of several initiatives by Mara Phones to help African governments to fight the pandemic. In recognising the importance of quality connectivity required by frontline workers, the other measure undertaken by Mara Phones is the offer to significantly subsidise smartphones for businesses and individuals looking to assist governments in connecting frontline workers during Covid-19. This subsidy will offer individuals or businesses an opportunity to contribute and participate in containing the spread of this virus by providing frontline workers with a smartphone.
