Masari suspends ban on night use of motorcycles in Katsina

The ban placed on the use of motorcycles at night in Katsina state has been suspended till November 20, by the Katsina state government.

This announcement was made in a statement by Malam Al-Amin Isah, the new media spokesperson to Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina.

The government had placed the ban in the wake of heightened insecurity in the state.  According to Isah, the suspension was approved in the spirit of the recent Eid-El Maulud and will end on November 20.

“In the spirit of the current Eid-El Maulud (celebration of the birth of Prophet Mohammed), Governor Masari has approved the suspension of the ban on the use of motorcycles at night,” he said.

The Kastina state government has asked “members of the public to be law-abiding during the suspension of the ban”, adding that residents should remain “vigilant and assist security agencies in enhancing peace and security in the state”.

It equally lifted the ban during the last Ramadan, the 30-day fasting period for Muslims, to enable them observe the period without hindrance.
