Media professionals, IT experts to speak at Abeokuta Catholic diocese on World Communications Day
Media professionals, including Niran Malaolu, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Rock City FM, are expected to attend the 2024 World Communications Day celebration at the Catholic diocese in Abeokuta on May 12.
The theme of 2024 World Communications Day is “Artificial intelligence and the wisdom of the heart: Towards fully human communication”.
The diocese, in a statement on Monday, said speakers at the event include Adelodun Oluwafemi, a principal programmer systems administrator at West African Examination Council (WAEC); Peter Arobomen, head of information systems controls at Fidelity Bank; and Gregory Fadele, director of social communications at the Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta.
“Panelists are, Messers Abiodun Atobatele, MD/CEO ABT Tech, Mr. Peter Arabomen, Group Head, Information Systems Controls, Fidelity Bank and Rev. Fr. Gregory Fadele, Director, Social Communications Directorate Catholic Diocese of Abeokuta,” the statement reads.
“Special Guests of honour are Mr. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser, Media & Strategy to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Founder/CEO, Rock City FM, Dr. Niran Malaolu.”
Peter Odetoyinbo, bishop of the Catholic diocese of Abeokuta, said the World Communications Day will be dedicated to further the work of evangelism.
He added that Pope Francis is concerned about the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) and has issued a message to the world on this year’s celebration.
