As is the case every other week, the performances of some players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) trump others.
Here are the players who made TheCable’s team of the week.
Terkaa Melai [Niger Tornadoes]
The former Lobi Stars goaltender put up a man of the match showing against FC Ifeanyi Ubah. He was outstanding for the Ikon Allah Boys.
Chris Madaki [Kano Pillars]
Madaki’s performance was solid throughout the game. He controlled the midfield and thwarted a number of attacking moves from the opposing team.
Reuben Ogbonnaya [Niger Tornadoes]
He put in another majestic performance at the back, with his usual combination of perfect timing and physical strength.
Chinedu Ozor [Abia Warriors]
The defender was at the centre of all Abia Warriors’ attacking play, including the assist that resulted in Obi Samson’s goal.
Sunday Chinedu [Kwara United]
The central defender was more dangerous when pushing forward and he inspired Kwara United to a much-needed win.
Ikenna Hilary [Kano Pillars]
Hilary helped his team on the final third and also fulfilled his primary responsibility of shielding the defence.
Ifeanyi Okoye [Kwara United]
His impressive form persists. He bossed the midfield and dictated the pace of the game for large spells.
Bolaji Adeyemo [Niger Tornadoes]
Adeyemo was a decisive figure for the Ikon Allah Boys. He worked hard and pressed high.
Joshua Agboola [Katsina United]
He was simply unstoppable. The winger ran rings around Sunshine Stars’ defence line.
Anthony Okpotu [Lobi Stars]
Okpotu finally scored his first goal of the season for the Pride of Benue, and what a goal it was; a real beauty and winning strike from a free kick.
Usman Bashir [Niger Tornadoes]
The substitute silenced Nnewi with a breathtaking goal that earned Tornadoes three points at the Fortress.
