The Osun state government says it has no plan to demote workers or pay them half their salary.

On Friday, a story of a worker in the state’s civil service surfaced online alleging that the government was planning to demote them and pay half of the salaries as the past government used to.

But in a statement on Saturday, Olawale Rasheed, media aide to Ademola Adeleke, the governor, said the story of the planned demotion and salary restructuring by the government was false.

Rasheed accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of fabricating and sponsoring fake news to undermine Adeleke’s administration.

“We declare that the content of the said story and all the references to a supposed worker are mere fabrications to undermine the very strong bond between Adeleke and Osun workers, both in the formal and the informal sector,” NAN quoted him as saying.

“We affirm that the Osun state government under Ademola Adeleke has not and will not demote any worker. There is also no plan to introduce half salary.

“We declare that the content of the said story and all the references to a supposed worker are mere fabrications to undermine the very strong bond between Adeleke and Osun workers, both in the formal and the informal sector.

“It is, therefore, a failed hatchet job by the opposition party to allege that a solution provider, a workers’ governor and a performing leader of people’s government is planning any anti-labour agenda.”
