Saleh Michika, the first civilian governor of Adamawa, is dead.
Michika died at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, after a protracted illness. He was 77 years old.
Macaulay Hunohashi, special adviser on Media to Muhammadu Bindow, governor of Adamawa, confirmed the death of Michika to NAN on Sunday.
Michika was elected governor on the platform of the National Republican Convention (NRC).
He governed Adamawa from January 2, 1992, to November 17, 1993.
Before joining politics, he worked with the British Bank of West Africa and the John Holt company.
He was born in Michika, headquarters of the Michika local government area in Adamawa, where he had his primary education.
Michika later moved to Yola Middle School (now known as the General Murtala Mohammed College Yola) for his secondary education.
He is survived by four wives and 38 children – 17 boys and 21 girls.
