Some Super Eagles players have made our team of the week due to their outstanding performances in a weekend full of drama and fabulous goals across the globe.
TheCable selects the best XI from across the world of football, where the Nigerian flag is being hoisted by its countrymen.
Matthew Yakubu – Sered
Matthew Yakubu, a young goalkeeper, put up an outstanding performance for Sered who did enough to pip Zemplin Michalovce 1-0.
Godswill Ekpolo – Haecken
He also put up an overall brilliant display. A constant threat on the flank, Ekpolo’s dangerous runs helped Haecken beat Falkenberg.
Leon Balogun – Rangers
Balogun prevented Ross County strikers from getting a single goal during Sunday’s clash. Crucial performance in a win that was pure oxygen for Rangers.
Kenneth Omeruo – Leganes
Always a step ahead of Castellon strikers, he gave no space to any of the opponents.
Godfrey Stephen – Isloch
He had a great game against Krumkachy. The full back also crowned his efforts with a goal in the 4-0 win against Krumkachy.
John Obi Mikel – Stoke City
He was a constant threat in the middle of the park. He was central and very effective in the draw against Birmingham.
Alex Iwobi – Everton
He came off the bench to provide an assist for Everton who beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.
Mikel Agu – Vitoria Guimaraes
Agu was exceptional against Pacos de Ferreira. His quality and power helped Vitoria Guimaraes pick the three points.
Samuel Kalu – Bordeaux
He scored the second goal as Bordeaux thrashed Dijon 3-0 and took the three points in the Ligue 1.
Chuba Akpom – Middlesbrough
Akpom netted the second and crucial goal for Middlesbrough in the 2-1 against Barnsley.
Viv Solomon-Otabor – Wigan
He gave a spectacular assist for the winner at home to Doncaster Rovers.
