John Obi Mikel, Super Eagles captain, has urged his teammates to keep their heads up despite the 0-2 loss to Serbia in an international friendly game on Tuesday.

He advised his teammates to “learn” from the result, urging them not to see it as a defeat.

Mikel, pivot of the Eagles, has missed the last two friendly matches due to work permit issues in China, and many pundits have said his presence in the games against Poland and Serbia would have made the team more organised.

In a Twitter post on Wednesday, Mikel said he can’t wait to return to the squad for the upcoming friendlies.

He wrote: “You don’t lose, you learn ?? Looking forward to being back on the pitch for our remaining preparation games.”

Gernot Rohr’s men still have three more friendlies before they proceed to Russia for the World Cup.

The three-time African champions will take on DR Congo in Abuja or Uyo on May 25, and subsequently face the Three Lions of England on June 2 at the Wembley Stadium.

Their last tune-up game is against the Czech Republic on June 6 in Austria.
