John Enenche, spokesman of the defence headquarters (DHQ), says the is not the responsibility of the military to declare Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), wanted.

Speaking with journalists on Friday, Eneche said the whereabouts of the Biafra agitator have been unknown.

Kanu was last seen in public before the military invasion at his residence on September 14.

On Wednesday, Kanu’s lawyers asked the federal high court, Abuja to compel Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, to produce Kanu.

But Eneche insisted that Kanu is not in the custody of the military. He said the army did not proscribe IPOB as its job is to diagnose security issues.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not in the custody of the military,” he said

”It is not the responsibility of the military to declare Nnamdi Kanu wanted. The military did not proscribe IPOB.

“Due process was followed to proscribe it. The job of the military was to diagnose security issues and warned the public of consequences and that is part of our media operations.

“We did our media operations very well, otherwise that weekend would have been the longest weekend in this country and we are also very careful choosing our words and we know the law very well.”

He said the exercises of the army in the different parts of the country was to train the army which is done according to international best practice.

Eneche said the army was also assisting civil authorities to tackle emerging security threats in the country.
