Goddy Jedy Agba, minister of state for power, says the only way for the country to grow is if citizens are united irrespective of ethnicity or religion.

According to a statement issued by Ofem Uket, media aide of the minister, Agaba said this on Tuesday in Abuja at a conference of the governing board of Benson Idahosa University.

The minister said those exploiting the fault-lines of religion and ethnicity are “the enemies of the state” and their actions “will only spell doom for the nation”.

He said Nigeria is among great countries of the world, having abundant human and natural resources that could create wealth for citizens.

The minister said the country should avoid war, adding that the tension Nigeria is currently experiencing is a ploy to make it retrogress.

”But the federal government is committed to ensuring the unity of the country and to maintain peace amongst the people,” he said.

“[The] government programme of rural electrification will be extended to Benson Idahosa university.”

Earlier, Pat Utomi, chairman of the governing board, said the university would continue to partner the government in its policies and programmes in all sectors of the economy.
