Mo Abudu, Nigerian media mogul and EbonyLife TV CEO, has been announced as the chairperson for the 2019 International Emmy Awards Gala.

The 54-year-old media proprietor took to her Instagram account to break the news on Tuesday.

This is coming less than two months after she clinched the 2019 MIPTV Médailles d’Honneur in Cannes, France.

“I’m honored to chair the 47th International Emmy Awards Gala that celebrates extraordinary television producers from all over the globe. I would like to thank the international Emmy Awards for this honor and opportunity,” Abudu wrote.

“As producers, we’re in a unique position to share fresh, authentic and original stories with the global audience. Our content is not limited by language or culture. Viewers want to see stories that reflect their everyday lives — which can be found everywhere.

“At Ebony Live, we believe in changing the global African narrative and, like many, we connect the world with our stories. As a Nigerian television producer, I’m honored to be a part of an organization that celebrates extraordinary producers from all over the globe.”

The International Emmy Awards is an annual event that celebrates exceptional TV producers from across the globe. This year’s gala is scheduled to hold on November 25, 2019, in New York City.

In 2006, Abudu started EbonyLife TV, a network airing in more than 49 countries across Africa, as well as in the UK and the Caribbean.
