Victor Moses was on target as Arsenal defeated Chelsea to win the 2017 Community Shield at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Arsenal won the season-opening trophy by beating Chelsea 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

The traditional curtain-raiser pits the Premier League champions and FA Cup winners against each other.

Arsenal’s best opportunity to take the lead in the first half was through new signing Alexandre Lacazette, whose effort hit the post.

Immediately after the break, the Gunners were punished for failing to deal with a corner which Victor Moses reacted quickest to by smashing the ball past Petr Cech to put Chelsea ahead.

Moses was sent off against Arsenal in the FA Cup final back in May.

Chelsea were down to 10 men after Pedro was dismissed in the 80th minute, and his dismissal hurt the Premier League defending champions.

Sead Kolasinac scored his debut goal for Arsenal in the 81st minute when he leapt above everyone else to head the ball past Thibaut Courtois for the equaliser.

The game went straight to a penalty shoot-out at the end of 90 minutes.

Gary Cahill scored his effort while compatriots, Alvaro Morata and Thibaut Courtois, missed their spot kicks.

Theo Walcott, Nacho Monreal, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud converted their spot kicks to hand Arsenal their first trophy of the season.
