Mu’azu queries Fayose’s claims on GMB’s health
Adamu Mu’azu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has questioned the “evidence” that Governor Ayodele Fayose of EKiti state said he had on the ill-health of President-elect Muhammadu Buhari in the lead-up to the 2015 presidential election.
Mu’azu was speaking in response to Fayose’s claim that he was in possession of evidence that Mu’azu tacitly supported Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who eventually won the election.
“In saner climes, when a war commander leads his troops to an embarrassing defeat, such commander does not need anyone to tell him that he needs to leave the war front for another commander to take over,” Fayose had said on Tuesday in a release issued by his spokesperson, Lere Olayinka.
“How do we explain the PDP losing so scandalously in Bauchi state, despite the presence of the national chairman, federal capital territory minister and the state governor? I am even more particular about the national chairman because he sold the party to the opposition. I have cogent evidences of his unholy alliance with the opposition before the elections and if they go any further, I will expose all his underhand deals.”
Responding on Thursday via his Twitter account, Mu’azu “challenged Governor Fayose to come out with the evidence that shows national chairman worked for APC during the elections”.
“We hope it’s not the kind of evidence he once said he had that Buhari was dying,” the statement read.
“The national chairman campaigned for Governor Fayose, defended him and was at his inauguration and will continue to support him and Ekiti people.
“You will all recall that the national chairman warned members of our presidential campaign organisation to stop the hate campaign.”

Before the election, Fayose continuously claimed Buhari was too sick to be president, and even said at a time that the retired general was in the United Kingdom for medical attention.
However, he was the first to congratulate Buhari when it was clear he would win the election, releasing a statement far before President Goodluck Jonathan conceded the election to his opponent.
See who is talking of ‘saner climes’. I think Muazu should just ignore this rabble rouser and attention seeker who is now disturbed by his inglorious past and the fast approaching reckoning with judgement day. In a saner clime that, hopefully Nigeria will attain presently Fayose will have to account for the violent sacking of the temple of justice, the unconstitutional halting of legislative duties and other criminal activities too numerous to mention here. We need to deepen our democracy and we need strong opposition where anti democratic elements like Fayose will not have any leading role to play. That day is fast at hand.
