Tunde Bakare, the serving overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has addressed speculations about his motives for meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Bakare, who was among the aspirants in the 2023 presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with Tinubu at the president’s home in Lagos on June 4.
Speaking during a recent sermon, Bakare firmly refuted any insinuations of personal gain from the president’s administration.
“Some people still think he has gone there to settle himself. In what way have I settled myself before? What they gave me, I returned. What am I looking for?” he asked.

Bakare recalled telling Tinubu not to misuse his power as president of Nigeria.
On April 20, Bakare asked Tinubu to accept advice and “stop playing God”.
During his state of the nation broadcast in Lagos, Bakare said the president should implement a “coordinated programme” to steer Nigeria out of its current crisis.
