Technical college exams
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) recorded a surge in applications for its programmes.
This year’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) common entrance examination into federal technical colleges held on Saturday, June 14.
Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, NABTEB registrar, reeled out figures during the monitoring of the examination at the Federal Technical College in Edo state.
Mohammed, who was represented by Osaigbovo Pius, NABTEB director of research and quality assurance, said the board enrolled 29,260 students for 2025, more than the 2024 figure of 7,547.

The board executive said the surge in the number of applications was due to the federal government’s decision to boost TVET.
He disclosed that the results of the examination will be ready in three weeks, adding that the test has attracted more people into the education sector.
“You can see the large turnout for the examination. Before now, the enrollment for the exams have been low. We have over 500 students taking it right now. It is massive across the nation,” he said.

He said the examination process has become seamless due to digitalisation.
Pius also appreciated the ministry of education for the initiatives introduced to the sector. He added that successful applicants will be eligible for the student loan.
Pius said after training, candidates will receive the NABTEB certificates, including the NTC and MBC. He said NSQ certificate is based on competency.
He added that the government will soon include other schools in the programme.
