The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says several “armed bandits” have been killed in a series of coordinated air strikes targeting their convoy along the Kebbi-Zamfara axis.

A statement on Friday by Ehimen Ejodame, the force director of public relations, said the operation was carried out on July 9.

Ejodame said the air strikes targeted a convoy of nearly 150 motorcycles ferrying bandits near Yarbuga, a community in Maru LGA of Zamfara state.

He said the operation followed receipt of credible intelligence, adding that the strikes disrupted the movement of the armed bandits.

“In a major offensive under Operation Fansan Yamma, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on 9 July 2025 conducted a series of precision airstrikes that neutralised scores of armed bandits along the Kebbi-Zamfara axis, targeting a migrating convoy of nearly 150 motorcycles near Yarbuga in Maru LGA, Zamfara State,” the statement reads.

“Acting on real-time intelligence, NAF aircraft struck with devastating accuracy, disrupting the bandits’ movement and forcing survivors to flee, as persistent air overwatch enabled follow-up strikes.

“A subsequent ground exploit mission on 10 July 2025 confirmed the success, with several terrorist corpses, burnt motorcycles, and weapons recovered.”

Ejodame said NAF remains committed to protecting the lives of Nigerians, supporting ground troops, and “denying criminal groups freedom of action”.
