The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has hinted that the 2026 Hajj fares could be lower than the 2025 fare.
Abdullahi Usman, the commission’s chairman, made the remarks on Wednesday in Katsina after a courtesy visit to Dikko Radda, the state governor, to discuss how to ease the upcoming Hajj exercise.
Usman said the final fare for Hajj is still subject to confirmation.
He said the commission is working to ease hurdles such as high fares and difficulties with Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) payments.

Usman stressed that early payment is crucial to securing good accommodation and transport arrangements in Makkah and Madina, Saudi Arabia.
“As leaders, we urge scholars, journalists, and stakeholders to sensitise people on the importance of early registration. Late payments make it harder for the commission to secure good accommodation for pilgrims,” he said.
Usman also sought Radda’s support as chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum, praising president Bola Tinubu’s administration for “unprecedented attention” to pilgrims’ welfare.

Radda assured NAHCON of his full support and directed the state’s commissioner of religious affairs to launch a media campaign encouraging timely Hajj registration and payments.
The move is part of NAHCON’s broader efforts to make the 2026 Hajj exercise more organised and accessible for Nigerian pilgrims.
