Ibrahim Abdullahi, speaker, Nasarawa state house of assembly, says the house has passed the 2019 local government amended bill into law to empower the governor to create fourth class traditional chiefdom in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, by Jibrin Gwamna, his press secretary, and made available to NAN in Keffi.

The statement said that the speaker announced the passage of the bill during an emergency sitting of the house held on May 24.

The statement, however, said with the new amendment, the state governor is now empowered to create fourth class traditional chiefdom so as to give some communities in the state a sense of belonging.

According to the statement, Abubakar Imam, the chairman house standing committee on judiciary and member representing Lafia central, said the amendment was timely considering how various communities are agitating for chiefdom in the state.

The statement maintained that members unanimously adopted the report after Tanko Tunga (APC-Awe North), the majority leader of the house, moved a motion for the third reading of the bill.
