He thereafter directed the Clerk of the House to transmit the bill to Governor Abdullahi Sule for assent.

Over the years, stakeholders have called for sustainable mechanisms to improve the quality of and access to education, especially at the basic and secondary levels.

TheCable Index reports that the Nigeria Multidimensional Poverty Index estimated 25.4 per cent of children between the ages of 6 and 15 were out of school as of 2022 in Nassarawa.

The Nasarawa State Education Development Trust Fund Bill is part of broader efforts by the state government to address inadequate infrastructure, poor funding of education, and a shortage of qualified teachers.

The proposed fund, the state said, aims to provide a structured and accountable means of financing educational initiatives, including teacher training programmes, school rehabilitation, and learning material provision.
