Nasarawa disability commission partners ICT firm to train PWDs in computer skills

The Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission and the Tech Inclusion for the Deaf Initiative (TIDI) have partnered to empower persons with disabilities (PWDs) with computer skills.

The partnership was sealed during a visit by officials of TIDI led by Victor Oricha, the chief executive of the firm, to Saleh Keana, chairman of the commission, over his appointment.

“We were in the commission to congratulate Keana as the first executive chairman of the Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission and to also appreciate Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for appointing one of them (PLWDs),” Oricha said.

He explained TIDI’s mission to collaborate with the commission to train PWDs in Nasarawa in computer skills.

He said the initiative seeks to foster self-reliance, reduce stigmatisation, and certify beneficiaries to train others.

Keana said the initiative is in line with the commission’s goals and affirmed its support for programmes that would benefit PWDs and pledged collaboration with TIDI and local organisations.

Keana commended the governor of Nasarawa, describing him as “friendly and passionate to people living with disabilities”.
