Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa, on Friday, convened a security meeting to address the security challenges in the state

The meeting is the second to be held in one week over concerns of suspected bandits fleeing into Nasarawa from some other states in the north-west region.

A similar security meeting was held on Monday.

Speaking at the government house on Friday, the governor said the security meeting was convened, following intelligence reports that suspected bandits have been sighted around Gitata, Loko, Udege, Umaisha, Nunku and Wamba areas of the state.

According to Sule, governors in the region had earlier met and deliberated on reports of bandits fleeing from Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger and other parts of the north-west as a result of military operations, adding that the meeting generated solutions to tackle the menace.

He said his administration will implement critical measures to address the security challenges in the state.

“As a result of all these that are coming to us, we have to do everything possible in order to maintain the peace,” Sule said.

“We decided to call this expanded meeting, because we have already noticed some movements into some locations in our state.”

Those in attendance included heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, vigilante groups, members of the hunters’ association, and Fulani leaders.
