Members of the national assembly have resumed plenary after a 25-day holiday which commenced before Christmas.
The two legislative chambers resumed sitting on Wednesday but subsequently adjourned till Thursday, over the death of Abayomi Ayeola, a member of the house of representatives.
Ayeola, who represented Ibeju Lekki federal constituency in Lagos state, died in December after a brief illness.
He was the leader of the Lagos caucus at the lower legislative chamber and had just picked the ticket to return for a third term in office.
Both the senate and the house of representatives adjourned at different times after holding respective prayer sessions for him.
Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house of representatives, said a valedictory session will be held in honour of the late lawmaker on Thursday.
