M. Buba, a lieutenant commander in the Nigerian navy, has been stabbed to death by a suspected phone snatcher in Kaduna state.
Buba was reportedly attacked and stabbed on the chest with a knife at a bus stop before Kawo flyover in Kaduna around 4 am on Sunday.
The deceased was said to have alighted from his car around the flyover axis when his car’s tyre got flatten.
During the process, a suspected phone snatcher demanded the officer’s mobile phones but he refused to hand them over. The suspect then stabbed the officer on the chest.

Confirming the incident, Mansir Hassan, Kaduna police spokesperson, said the officer suffered injuries and was rushed to Manaal Hospital where he was declared dead by a medical doctor.
Hassan said Suleiman Dahiru who attempted to help the late naval officer was also stabbed in the hand and he is currently receiving treatment.
“The body of late Buba has been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital mortuary. The deceased was in his black Toyota vehicle with registration number APP-745HT, when the incident happened,” Hassan said.

Hassan said the suspect was attempting to flee when a mob overpowered him and beat him to death.
