The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says domestic airlines refunded N1.03 billion to passengers within three months.
NCAA announced via X on Thursday, adding that the refunds were made between April and June.
“Between the months of April-June (2025), domestic airlines in Nigeria paid refunds to air passengers as follows:” the post reads.
“Total Number of Passengers refunded 5285. Combined total refunds (in naira). 1,038,505,680.80”

In September 2024, Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, inaugurated the NCAA’s consumer protection portal to address ticket refund issues within 24 hours.
Later, on December 10, 2024, the NCAA said it would sanction airlines for delayed ticket refunds.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, said ticket refund compliance remains a key pillar of the agency’s consumer protection agenda.

On December 24, NCAA said it sanctioned Air Peace, Ethiopian Airlines, Arik Air, Aero Contractors, and Royal Air Maroc for violating Part 19 of NCAA Regulations of 2023.
The aviation authority said the violations include failure to refund passengers within the stipulated time frame, non-responsiveness to authority’s directives, incidents of missing and manhandled luggage, short-landed baggage, and issues relating to flight delays and cancellations.
