NCDC logs 89 new COVID cases, no death in last 24 hours

Nigeria’s daily count of coronavirus infections recorded a decline on Saturday — with 89 new cases confirmed in eight states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

Saturday’s figure is a 25.8 percent decrease over the past 24 hours — 120 new cases were confirmed on Friday.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) published the new cases in its update for October 30, 2021.

Bauchi recorded the most cases on Saturday with 22 new positive samples, followed by Edo with 17 and FCT with 17.

Other states that recorded new infections include Lagos (15), Plateau (10), Kaduna (4), Taraba (2), Bayelsa (1) and Delta (1).

With no deaths reported on Saturday, the total number of coronavirus casualties remains 2,895.

However, 118 new recoveries were recorded on Saturday, and according to the agency, the figure included a backlog of discharged patients from Taraba state (46); Bauchi (5) and Lagos (1).

A total of 211,887 COVID-19 infections have now been confirmed since the index case on February 27, 2020 — out of which 203,080 persons have been discharged, and 5,785 are currently active cases.
