Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for importing drugged candies from the United Kingdom.

Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, said the suspect, Arnold Maniru, was arrested with four kilograms of drugged candies on Saturday, August 28.

He said Maniru was arrested after the agency intercepted a consignment of cookies laced with Arizona — a variant of cannabis.

“A 22-year-old youth corps member, Arnold Maniru has been arrested in Abuja for importing 4 kilograms of drugged candies from the United Kingdom just as operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted in Lagos cookies laced with drugs going to the United Arab Emirate,” the statement reads.

“A controlled delivery of the parcel, which contains the candies laced with Arizona, a strong variant of cannabis and some liquid, was subsequently carried out.”
